A charming pair of vintage circa 1940s–1950s floral earrings, beautifully crafted in tested 14K gold and centered with genuine faceted rubies.
These earrings have the wonderful dimensional construction characteristic of mid-century fine jewelry. Each flower is formed from individually defined, sculptural petals that curve and overlap around a raised center setting, creating beautiful depth despite their petite proportions.
The gold has an especially appealing warmth. Rather than appearing distinctly yellow or rose, it carries a soft rosy-yellow gold tone that has developed a lovely vintage character.
At the heart of each flower rests a genuine round faceted ruby, approximately 3.62 mm, secured within a traditional raised prong setting. The center stones have been tested and confirmed as genuine gemstones.
The earrings themselves are unsigned but have been tested as 14K gold. Together they have a substantial total weight of approximately 3.44 grams.
Each floral face measures approximately 11.89 mm across.
The reverse reveals equally appealing period craftsmanship, including dimensional open-backed construction and adjustable screw-back clip-on closures. These were designed for non-pierced ears, with the threaded mechanism allowing the wearer to control the pressure and fit.
A beautiful surviving pair of vintage ruby earrings combining genuine gemstones, solid gold construction and a timeless floral motif.

Styling Note
Petite in scale yet rich in detail, these ruby flowers are perfect for adding a discreet touch of vintage fine jewelry to an everyday look. Their warm gold tone pairs beautifully with other yellow and rose gold pieces, while the ruby centers provide just enough color to make them distinctive. They would be particularly elegant with a black dress, silk blouse or softly tailored evening look.
Collector’s Note
Floral motifs remained important in fine jewelry throughout the 1940s and 1950s, when designers frequently used dimensional goldwork to give relatively small pieces a sculptural presence. Original screw-back earrings in tested 14K gold with genuine gemstones are especially appealing to collectors, as many surviving examples from the period are costume jewelry rather than fine gold. The unsigned construction of this pair places the emphasis squarely on the workmanship, gold content and genuine ruby centers.
