A dramatic slice of interwar Czech artistry. This one-of-a-kind statement brooch marries three beloved Jablonec techniques in a single composition: a deeply molded lapis-blue floral pressed glass plaque; a massive faceted “watermelon” teardrop that shifts green to yellow; and a translucent foil art-glass drop capped in ornate filigree. Sapphire-toned and sky-blue navette stones frame the piece like leaves. Hand-soldered silver-tone settings and a long pin stem complete the unmistakable 1930s–40s Czech construction.

Wear it on a blazer lapel or at the shoulder of a silk dress—this brooch reads museum-worthy while still feeling modern and bold.

  • Origin: Czechoslovakia (Jablonec workshops), 1930s–1940s

  • Materials: pressed/molded glass, faceted Czech glass (“watermelon” stone), foil art-glass drop, rhinestones, silver-tone metal

  • Color palette: lapis/cobalt blue, teal/emerald green-to-yellow gradient, sky blue, clear/silver foil accents

  • Construction: hand-soldered mounts; scalloped bezel with vent holes behind the molded plaque; ornate filigree cap on the foil glass; long pin stem with C-style clasp

  • Markings: unsigned (typical of Czech export pieces of the era)

  • Brooch: approx. 2 in H × 2 in W

  • “Watermelon” teardrop (prong-set): approx. 24.41 mm H × 18.20 mm W

  • Lapis-blue molded floral (oval; dog-tooth prongs): approx. 25.56 mm H × 18.54 mm W

  • Navettes: trio of marquise stones—two deep sapphire/teal, one sky blue

  • Pin mechanism: secure and functioning; silver-tone back

Excellent vintage condition with light, expected age wear to the metal. Stones are bright and secure; pin mechanism works properly.

Czech glassmakers of the Jablonec region were famed for transforming color and light into jewelry. This brooch captures that spirit—pressed floral glass for texture, a gradient “watermelon” stone for drama, and a foil-flecked drop for luminescence—like a miniature bouquet gathered under glass.
