Antique Czech Filigree Bracelet & Brooch Set – Sapphire Blue Glass & Paste Stones – 1930s European Jewelry

This antique Czech jewelry set is a breathtaking example of the artistry that made Czechoslovakia the jewelry capital of Europe in the early 20th century. Featuring a matching filigree bracelet and brooch, this set is adorned with bold sapphire-blue faceted glass stones, surrounded by shimmering vintage paste stones, all set in ornate brass filigree with an antique gold finish.

The brilliance of this set lies not only in its beauty but also in its craftsmanship:

  • The large center stones are prong-set, reflecting light with dazzling depth.

  • The smaller accent stones are paste — a historic form of high-lead glass, hand-cut and polished to imitate genuine gemstones. Paste jewelry was highly sought after in Europe for its fire and brilliance, and today it is recognized as a collectible category in its own right.

  • The bracelet retains its original box clasp, decorated with a starburst stamp — a hallmark feature of Czech jewelry construction in the 1930s–40s.

  • The brooch has a secure locking C-clasp, fully functional and typical of the same era.

Both pieces remain in excellent antique condition with all stones intact. A natural touch of verdigris patina is present, consistent with the age and history of the set, which only enhances its authenticity and old-world charm.

Why Collectors Love This Set

Antique Czech filigree jewelry is celebrated for its ornate wirework, vibrant glass colors, and unique craftsmanship. This set is a prime example of how Czech artisans combined artistry with innovation. The use of paste stones alongside faceted glass gave the jewelry a level of brilliance that rivaled fine gems, allowing it to remain dazzling nearly a century later.

Owning a set like this isn’t just about beauty — it’s about preserving a piece of European design history from the interwar period, when Czech jewelry was exported to fashionable boutiques across Paris, London, and New York.
