This antique bar brooch carries the last breath of the Art Nouveau era — graceful scrolling lines, botanical motifs, and the soft romanticism of early 20th-century design. The center panel features delicate metalwork protected beneath an early clear celluloid film, a technique used in the 1910s–1920s to preserve decorative engraving while giving the piece a subtle glasslike sheen.

The pewter-toned metal frame adds that classic European touch, and the original trombone clasp — a mechanism used almost exclusively between 1890 and the early 1930s — confirms its age and authenticity. Unsigned, but unmistakably well-crafted.

A refined, wearable antique that brings understated elegance to coats, shawls, blouses, and knitwear.

Styling Notes

Pin it along the neckline of a dress, on a wool coat lapel, or layered in a curated brooch stack. This piece shines beautifully against winter fabrics — charcoal, cream, camel, and black — adding a touch of early 20th-century elegance to modern wardrobe essentials.

Collector's Note

Trombone clasps are highly collectible due to their narrow production window and distinct European engineering. Combined with the preserved metalwork under early celluloid, this brooch represents a fascinating transitional moment between Nouveau’s organic curves and Deco’s structured symmetry.
